Hi, I am Steve Austin, a 27-year-old second year student of the BA Furniture Design course at Kingston School of Art in London. My education and interests have always been deeply rooted in the arts. Prior to university, I studied Art & Design and Graphic Design at Kingston College, which naturally led to my specialism in Furniture and Product Design.

My strong interest in minimalism leads into my fascination with Dutch design which balances simplicity and functional design while keeping it personable. I am eager to expand my understanding of craft, materials, and process in a professional environment that values considered design and cultural exchange. In the future I am interested in working abroad, possibly in the Netherlands, further expanding my understanding of design through many cultural perspectives. I feel that contemporary design often focuses on short lifespans making repair difficult or impossible; contributing to a culture of disposability, this stands strongly against what I wish to represent within my design.

I am highly motivated, ambitious, and hands on in my approach. My broad design education, international outlook, and open minded attitude make me well prepared to work within diverse and creative settings.
